THE ROLE OF THE EMBASSY AND THE AMBASSADOR

The main objective of the Embassy is to strengthen the political, economic, cultural, scientific and information relations between Republic of Macedonia and Commonwealth of Australia and stimulate the involvement of the Australian citizens of Macedonian origin in the development of the relations. The Embassy protects the interest of the Republic of Macedonia and interests of the citizens and legal entities of the Republic of Macedonia in the Commonwealth of Australia.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia is the personal envoy of the President of the Republic of Macedonia to the Commonwealth of Australia. In this capacity he represents the Head of State, The Government and all the Ministries. The Ambassador has permanent communications with the official organs in the Republic of Macedonia and informs the Government of current developments in Australia, negotiates on behalf of the Republic of Macedonia, watches over the development of bilateral relations in all fields and ensures the protection of interests of the Republic of Macedonia and her citizens in the Commonwealth of Australia.

The Ambassador is authorised to present in Commonwealth of Australia a real picture of the developments in the Republic of Macedonia, its strategic goals and achievements in the road for inclusion in the European integration processes.

The Ambassador leads and is the main responsible for of the Embassy’s work.

The first Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to Australia was H.E Mr. Viktor Gaber (28/10/2004-23/12/2008).
